ABOUT
K+LAB
K+Lab has been carving out his own lane in bass music for well over a decade.
Originally from New Zealand and now based in Melbourne, he’s built a sound that sits somewhere between heavy electronic bass music, hip hop and live performance . Thick drums, serious low end and a strong sense of musicality that hits just as hard on festival systems as it does in headphones.
What sets K+Lab apart is his approach to live performance which goes far beyond a standard DJ set. With keytar in hand, K+Lab blends live instrumentation into heavyweight bass production, backed by a fully immersive audiovisual world built painstakingly by hand. Illustrated characters, custom animation and 3D environments all form part of the experience, making the visuals feel like an extension of the music rather than something layered on top.
Over the years, his releases have found homes with respected labels including LSDream’s Trippy Bee, CloZee’s Odyzey, Gramatik’s Lowtemp, Westwood & Philos Records cementing his place as a long-standing presence in the global bass scene.
Beyond the artist project, K+Lab is also the founder of Junkfood Records, where he has taken on a broader role as curator, creative director and community builder, helping shape a genuine long-term movement around bass and hip-hop culture.
From Red Rocks Amphitheatre to Shambhala Music Festival, Bass Coast Festival to Electric Forest, he has built a reputation across New Zealand, Australia, the US and Canada while staying completely true to his own sound.
At this point, K+Lab isn’t chasing a breakthrough moment he’s continuing to evolve a world that’s already firmly established.
